West Bund Art Fair

Center of Contemporary Art #9, Booth B115

8th Nov – 10 Nov 2024

Shanghai, China

Rashid Al Khalifa presents a series of recent works with the Center of Contemporary Art #9, at the West Bund Art & Design Fair in Shanghai. 3 of the works that will be exhibited are from his most recent ‘Crossing the Nile’ series, a series of paintings inspired by the Nile River in Cairo.

“The ancient Egyptians viewed the eastern part of the Nile as where life existed and the west as where life ends. And in the same respect, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. So the ancient belief, as is the essence of many spiritual beliefs and practices, was in many respects

reflective of the laws of nature and the cycle of life. This series is inspired by that symbiotic relationship as well as the mythological and spiritual significance of the Nile, a symbol of life and abundance.”

Since 2014, West Bund Art & Design has been dedicated to providing a platform for international and local galleries to showcase high-quality modern and contemporary artworks in Shanghai. Accompanying a diversity of exhibitions and events at museums & galleries, West Bund Art & Design enriches the art map of Shanghai and makes the city a vital stop on the global art calendar.
